General Questions

What is your Limited Lifetime Warranty?

Detonics Defense Technologies, LLC provides a lifetime warranty against any defects in material and workmanship. The warranty does not apply to damage caused by abnormal or unreasonable use of any part of the product (including repairs and/or alterations performed by persons not affiliated with Detonics Defense Technologies). The warranty does not cover the replacement or refinishing of parts that are subject to normal wear through the lifespan of the firearm.

This warranty is effective from the original date of purchase and only applies to the original owner. The owner requesting repairs or replacements based on the warranty must provide proof of purchase for the owner. Warranty claims must be made in writing prior to sending the firearm for service. The owner is responsible for shipping costs associated with sending the firearm in for repairs. Detonics highly recommends insuring your firearm for shipping.

What is my Detonics worth?

Due to the individuality of each pistol, the use, and rarity, we will not speculate on the worth of each piece.

How can I order a catalog or owners manuals for weapons?

At the current time, we do not have a printed catalog available for mailing. All of our information can be found online. As for owners manuals, give us a call at the office to request one.

Do you have a toll free number?

Not presently.

Do you give factory tours?

Currently we do not give tours due to safety and security reasons.

Where can I purchase a new Detonics firearm?

How do I ship my gun to the Service Department for repair?

Firearms Specific Questions

Do you have parts available for older model Detonics firearms?

Yes. We do have replacement parts and can service all model 1911 Detonics firearms.

Do the current parts fit my older model Detonics pistol?

Yes, our current generation of parts will fit on all older generation Detonics firearms.

Do you have replacement barrels for the .451 Detonics pistols?

No, we do not carry any product specific to the .451 Detonics chambered pistols. If you are having difficulty finding ammunition for your pistol, we recommend installing a .45ACP barrel to use a common caliber.

Do you service the Detonics Pocket 9?

We do not have any parts available for the Detonics Pocket 9, nor do we do any service on them. Our recommendation for the Pocket 9 is to buy up as many of the extra parts or extra pistols you can on a site like GunBroker.com and service your Pocket 9 that way.

What is the life expectancy of my firearm?

With proper maintenance, the pistol should last the lifetime of the shooter. For care instructions, please see our Manuals Page here.

Why does Detonics ship a fired cartridge case with every pistol?

Some states require spent cases to be kept on file.

Can you tell me the date my firearm was manufactured if I give you the serial number?

Unfortunately, Detonics has not kept historical information of its firearms to date, if you have anything manufactured in Millstadt, IL, however, we can track the firearms history. For other Detonics firearms, please contact the Detonics Collectors Forum on Yahoo for the best information.

Does Detonics provide reloading information for my gun?

No.  Reload at your own risk.  If you choose to reload there are numerous resources that are available.  We do state emphatically that all rounds must abide the SAMMI specifications.

Why do you recommend not shooting reloaded ammunition?

Reloaded ammunition has no guaranteed quality and the likelihood of double charged or lightly loaded cases, causing either a ruptured barrel or a squib is too great.

What kind of ammunition should I use in my Detonics?

Always use commercially manufactured ammunition designed to SAMMI specs.  This pistol is designed for mill-spec ball, but should feed most types of hollow points including +P ammunition.

Can I dry fire my Detonics?

It is recommended for dry fire practice to use snap caps, but the occasional dry fire snap will not hurt the operation of your firearm. When dry firing, ABSOLUTELY make sure there is no live ammunition anywhere in the vicinity. Safe practice is your responsibility.
